St. John's Episcopal church of Marlin was favored Sunday by having Rev. W. E.
Johnson of San Benito preach for its congregation, assisted by Nick Goodrich,
Jr., and Henry Baushausen, lay readers of the church, who have been doing good
work in the absence of the rector, Rev. F. P. Goddard.
"In fact, it is wonderfull that the
rector has been able to train such young men to carry on the work in his
absence, and have good attendance every Sunday." it was observed.
Sunday night, Rev. Johnson gave a sermon
on the Lord's prayer, which was very instructive and everyone felt it was
worthwhile to hear such a man who has had such a full life in the service of
the church. He served Trinity Parish in New York City for 20 years, so he
could speak out of the richness and fullness of his experience.
